Make your website work for you!

As I am one of the few remaining true webmasters, my skills allow me to offer my clients any number of time-saving solutions. Sure, everyone has a website these days... but do they really make use of it? Are they spending too much money to have it hosted? Have they been ripped off by fly-by-night geeks who get paid too much for a job and either fail to produce quality work or fail to answer questions in non-geek terms?

Alright, I'll get off my soapbox. :)

I have heard complaints like those from people time and time again. In fact, most perspective clients I meet almost seem to be resigned to the fact that they will get ripped off somehow. Well, I don't play that game. My goal has always been to give people good service for a more than fair price so everybody wins.

I offer a number of solutions for clients, from a simple website to complete web-bases solutions. However, it has been my experience that no two cases are ever the same so I don't have preset package deals. Rather, I work with my clients to give them what they want.

Examples

Trattoria Bel Paese - An example of giving a non-geek something he can use is www.trattoriabelpaese.com. Originally the client wanted a simple website to promote their restaurant; just something they could stick on a business card. They wanted to be able to have their menu online as well as their weekly specials. However, I didn't want to be editing stuff weekly so I set them up with a tool so they could change the specials whenever they wanted and most importantly, no web-skills were needed. The same was done with their online menu... it's completely editable by the client.

John Christian Entertainment - A similar solution as above; www.johnchristianentertainment.com was supposed to be an online business card promoting the band. What he ended up with was a site that gives his customers something real to look at. First I setup a tool for him to edit his songlist so he could update it whenever he wants. Next we ripped some DVD video he had on promotional discs and converted them to native Flash (.flv) video so they streamed over the internet. The good thing about Flash video is that it works on any platform without having to worry about the surfer having the correct plugin installed -- everyone has the Flash player.
