Software & Services for Calyx Point

If you are involved in the mortgage industry, then you probably use or know someone who uses Calyx Point.

Over the past couple of years, I have had the need to develop custom solutions for my mortgage clients for Point. While Calyx's software gets better with each version, their focus -- and rightly so -- is on the usability and interface as it relates to their customers, mortgage folks. However there have been times when I needed to do things for a client that Point simply won't do because of its proprietary nature.

As a result, I have developed two tools and I am listing them here for other developers who might need to build custom applications.

Coming soon! I've been asked about doing a command line or console application that can be used by scheduling tools such as Windows Task Scheduler to export borrower files in batches. Currently in development is pxDOS. This program runs from a Command Prompt and has a number of output options including CSV, TAB and XLS. Hopefully I can have a demo version available by the middle of July. It used my PointBRW unit for Delphi to read the files. Delphi developers who want to write apps for Calyx Point should contact me for more info on this unit.

libBRW.dll

For those of you who are on the Windows platform, I've developed a DLL that reads & writes the borrower (.BRW) files. This is particularly useful if you want to create a custom application such as a tool for generating reports. View online documentation

Download the demo version The demo version will read & write the first 101 fields. It comes with 2 demo applications that you can test with. One written in Visual Basic 6 and another in Delphi.

The DLL has been used in VB6.0, VB.NET, Delphi, ASP scripts and IIS ISAPI applications. I have personally only tested it in VB6.0 and Delphi. (It was written in Delphi using my PointBRW.pas unit) I don't claim to know every environment out there but the above mentioned languages have used the DLL successfully. phpPoint.class

If you use PHP, you are already aware of how powerful it is and if you are also a webmaster looking to develop a mortgage-based website, this class might be useful. It will read & write borrower files. Perfect for taking an online application and instantly translating it into a borrower file for easy impoting into Point.
